The Allerderm®/Virbac® line of dental care products for pets combines four unique ingredients to fight plaque, calculus, gum disease, and bad breath:
- Chlorhexidine gluconate is an antimicrobial agent which reduces the number of oral bacteria which cause plaque, gingivitis and bad breath.
- Zinc gluconate is an agent which helps retard plaque accumulation and bind the bacterial sulfur emissions that cause bad breath.
- Cetylpyridinium Chloride (CPC), in the same concentration found in Cepacol® Mouthwash/Gargle for humans, helps reduce plaque accumulation. Cepacol is a registered trademark of J.B. Williams Co., Inc.
- Sodium hexametaphosphate is an agent which sequesters calcium crystals and prevents them from depositing on the teeth as calculus.
